perception is reflection
ECHO:
ECHO is a transcendent three-day endurance art performance that delves deep into the intricate relationship between perception and reflection. Nestled amidst the awe-inspiring beauty of Sink Canyon, Wyoming, alongside the tranquil Popo Agie River, this immersive experience unfolds within an open-air, transparent chamber and its surrounds.
At the heart of ECHO lies a profound exploration of our collective connection to mental health. Within the chamber, a two-way mirror serves as the boundary between artist and audience, providing a unique and thought-provoking twist to traditional performance art. Those who enter the darkened chamber bear witness to the mutual vulnerability without the artist being privy to their presence. The only way that audience and artist knowingly engage is if the audience exits the darkened chamber to stand/sit outside behind the artist, connecting via each other’s reflection.
Participating audience members are encouraged to document their thoughts and feelings in relation to mental health on the walls of the chambers.
ECHO transcends mere observation, inviting its viewers to become an integral part of the artistry, fostering a collective conversation about the complexities of the human mind.
ECHO unfolds over three consecutive days, with each day spanning eight hours, devoid of breaks. Audience members have the freedom to come and go as they please.
ECHO aims challenge perceptions, evoke introspection, and open a window into the intricacies of our shared mental landscape. It is a testament to the power of endurance art to ignite conversations, inspire introspection, and offer a unique, unscripted, and deeply personal exploration of the human psyche.
